Show #9 – June 10, 2007

We start the show first with one of the funnier Muppet clips I’ve heard in a very long time. Then, we really open the show with the Jim Henson Hour theme! Thanks David (all of you).

The MuppetCast is brought to you this week by the number 2, the letter W, and BellBookAndComic.com. Check out their blog, and hit up their eBay store!

I had the opportunity to attend the No Fluff Just Stuff software symposium this last weekend, so I had less time to do the show than I normally do, which I guess explains why this is the longest show to date…? Anyway, I’ve fixed the forum, so stop in and say hi.

In the news this week, we learn that both The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth will recieve a special Anniversary Edition release this August. Both films get an all new digital transfer, plus exclusive new featurettes! Also, Fraggle Rock Season 3 arrives in September! Oh, and remember that The Muppet Show Season 2 also comes out in August. Preorder from the link on muppetcast.com or preorder from muppetcentral.com; either way it helps those folks out. Do it now!!

The Muppet Impression contest will end on June 24, so phone in your submissions to the voicemail line, or record some audio and email it to me. You can win this!

Some great Alice Cooper music from The Muppet Show Season 3 this week…congrats to all the graduates! Schools’s out!

Thanks to Peter Valentin for sending in some awesome new pics for the flickr page at flickr.com/photos/muppetcast.

Our special guest this week is Tom Stewart, from PuppeteersUnite.com. Tom is passionate about his work as the director of Camp Trillium, and was inspired early in life by the Muppets. He now uses his pal George to help entertain kids, and George has made a big difference in kids’ lives. Tom mentions a lot of incredible people he has worked with, including puppeteer Kanja Chen and Annie Milney of the Purple Dragon Puppet Troupe. Tom also mentions Potter Puppet Pals, and Project Puppet, a website that provides free puppet patterns. Open source puppetry!

Drew Smith returns this week in “Across the Pond”. Drew brings us the history of Sherlock Holmes in literature, and more importantly, his appearances in Muppet programming.

David Quesal serenades us this week with his “Is It True?” from his puppet repertoire!

Enjoy the show! Let me know your thoughts on the show. Take care.
