Show #173 – September 5, 2010

The MuppetCast returns from summer break with an all-new season of sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational podcasting! We hit the ground running this week with listener JD Hansel, talking about the wonderfully warm and talented pianist Rowlf the Dog.

Also included in this episode is a moment that somehow became lost from the recent New York road trip. We return to the home of Jane Hunt (mother of Muppeteer Richard Hunt) to present her with a beautiful gift from MuppetCast listener Marianne Murphy. Jane absolutely loved the painting Marianne did of Richard, and you’ll hear the audio from this portion of the trip.

The MuppetCast is sponsored by:
The Fingerbucket Report
Swanson PC
…and Bell, Book & Comic. Life should be more Fun!

Hey, do you live in (or close to) New York City? Well, get thyself over to The Knitting Factory this coming Sunday, September 12, for the next installation of The Muppet Vault! Hosted by our good friends Ryan Roe and Joe Hennes, this is now a monthly event consisting of non-stop Muppet fun. I won’t be there this month, but maybe next month…who knows!

Jane Henson recently donated the original Kermit the Frog, along with other characters Jim Henson created for his original TV show Sam & Friends, to the Smithsonian in Washington DC. If you’ve never seen Sam & Friends, there’s plenty to watch on YouTube.

ForeverGeek.com posted an article recently with a YouTube video attached that had Jim Henson in 1969 showing kids how to make puppets. His assistant in the video is the one and only Don Sahlin!

On the subject of old videos, here’s an article from Technologizer.com with several of the sales and training videos Jim Henson made for IBM.

Archaia recently announced that it plans on doing a second volume of their very well-received Fraggle Rock comic book later this year.

Finally, here’s an interesting article from Newsweek.com talking about a new Sesame healthy eating project. If you have kids, read this!
