Caroll Spinney will be appearing at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on Friday, January 29, 2016. The event will be taking place at Kingsbury Hall at 7:30 PM. Spinney will participate in a Q&A after a screening of the 2014 documentary I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story. Spinney will appear on stage for a live conversation with KUED’s Ken Verdoia following the film’s showing.
Caroll Spinney is best known for performing both “Big Bird” and “Oscar the Grouch” on Sesame Street since the show began in 1969. He was the recent subject of a documentary by Copper Pot Pictures. Spinney also wrote a 2003 autobiography titled The Wisdom of Big Bird (and the Dark Genius of Oscar the Grouch): Lessons from a Life in Feathers.
Kingsbury Hall is located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Tickets are $19 and $29 (students and children can purchase tickets at a discount). Tickets are available here.
